How to begin the new year with Jesus

What a reliable way to go into 2019 held by the hand of Jesus. He is the wisest of all counselors, the strongest of all defenders, the richest of all benefactors and the nearest of all friends. We can trust an unknown future to a known God.

The New Year can begin a new chapter in our lives. We will discuss how to begin the year with Jesus. The magic of Christmas is remembered when God gave one Gift that is above all other gifts, Jesus Christ. The mystery of a new year remains.

Above all else, there must be a personal relationship with Jesus. A daily association with Him can be shared by prayer, by the sacraments and worship. Thank Him for the gift of life for another day, it is an unearned gift. Thank Him for the hope of heaven and the agony He endured on the cross to save us from endless death.

Sunday is the "crown of the week." The worship of God is not to be conferred when it is convenient. It is our reason for existence; honor it with worship. Stewardship – we own nothing personally. All belongs to God who makes life's gifts possible – a temporary loan. In turn we have a standard of offering back to God part of which He has loaned us – a tithe. The last act of stewardship is your will which should be a bequest to your church, your spiritual home in the world. Holy Scriptures are to be read daily to learn about God's will for us. Jesus first, others next, self – last, brings the only tranquility in a less than tranquil world is for all. The gift of Jesus is for all who receive Him. If we accept the Gift, it is our for eternity. Because God loved the world, He gave His Son to mankind forever. Jesus is a gift that you simply receive and accept Him as Savior and Lord. Through Jesus comes salvation, joy, peace, healing, prosperity, happiness and every other good and perfect gift. Receiving Jesus as Savior will make 2019 your best New Year.

God has given many other gifts. Healing (1 Peter 2:24). The gift of peace (John 14:27) provides peace in the midst of trouble and despair. His promise, He will take care of you and meet your needs. Love – nothing can separate you from God's love (Rom 8:35-39). You also have been given eternal life. There is life after death, and as a Christian you have a promised reward in heaven.

We will be hanging up a new calendar as we celebrate the arrival of the New Year. This is the beginning Jesus as Savior of a new chapter in our lives. Receiving Jesus as Savior will make this your best year. He is the only answer.

You are encouraged today to take the gifts God has given you, unwrap and enjoy them. Make them a part of your life all year round. Prepare for a personal revival during 2019. Ask some basic questions and treat them as a kind of personal inventory of the heart.

The other day I was sitting in a booth at the local McDonalds, soaking in the ambiance while I took an occasional small bite of my sausage biscuit, and sips from my large diet coke. It was an early morning like most of my early mornings. I'd gotten up at Oh Dark Thirty and drove to the Big Dipper Ice Arena where I proceeded to jog indoors in little ovals for 35 minutes while listening to a Christian fiction audio-book. Why 35 minutes? Research and testing determined that I would lose my marbles if I didn't stop at 35 minutes... running in little ovals is pretty boring, after all. 'Peers I got side tracked from what I wanted to share in this thread.

While sitting at McDonalds, eating and reading from an e-book, sometimes wondering what kind of lives the folks behind the counter lead... They're always nice to me. One of them calls me biscuit on account of that's what she prepares when she sees me come through the door. They used to all know my name because they would ask for it when they took my order. Then they switched to numbers... now I'm just Biscuit...

Without warning a thought popped in to my mind... I have several copies of the Bible on my smart phone and it occurred to me that it would be very easy for the govmint, after they abolish the Bible because it is supposedly full of hate speech, to delete without permission all copies of Bibles and other Christian writings that are on our phones and tablets and computers. I pondered that thought for a while and concluded that e-copies of the Bible will become quite vulnerable as we approach the end of this era, and will certainly be in grave danger during the Tribulation years.

I've got oodles of hard copies of the Bible at home but have pretty much switched entirely over to e-reading the Good Book. After it occurred to me that it would be quite easy, technologically speaking, for a govmint authority to simply delete the Bible from devices, I next wondered how e-copies might be protected somewhat. I guess having copies in .pdf format where you could change the name of the file to Aunt Bertha Recipe Book or some other such thing to throw off the hounds might help protect the file from big brother.

Seriously, until now it hadn't occurred to me how vulnerable e-books could possibly become. It would be a simple matter to search out and delete whatever books have been banned from devices, servers, etc. Given that mankind is going over more and more to e-books and books in audio format, hard copies will become increasingly unavailable to people... meaning after the church is gone the Word of God may become hard to come by for brave new Believers during Tribulation.

Additionally, the antichrist could conceivably replace Bible files with altered ones that when studied would lead people to believe he truly has come to save the world... How confusing and difficult those last years will be.

But here, now, we have people not just choosing not to have children, but actually undergoing operations that will sterilise them for life – all to “help the environment”. It needs to be acknowledged, confessed and repented from just like I have had to acknowledge, confess, and repent from those things that pull me into sin practice or bondage.

One is not worse than the other.
If one craves sensual/ sexual intimacy with one of the same sex/gender, as hard as this sounds, they will need to remain Celibate for the rest of their life. God does and can work a work of healing and grace in one who struggles. I know of one. He now is married to a female and they have children. He wanted what God wants more than what he wanted. He repented and called on Jesus to save him and help him be the man God wanted him to be.

5. I believe in my heart of hearts that those who are in the LGBT world may struggle with some type of mental confusion due to various stressors. However, ultimately, I believe they need to repent of all things not Scriptural and call on Jesus and receive Him to be Lord and Savior. Only He has the loving power and strength to affect change and Spirit-directed transformation. Christ forming in them... the Hope of glory.

My beliefs and convictions on this are what Scripture teaches. Romans 1, 1Corinthians 6, and many other passages confirm this. Sodom and Gomorrah confirm this.

6. If a person says they are a born again Christian but give the international sign of displeasure to God and His Word, they cannot be Saved. No way.

7. Now if a soul is not saved, not a Christian, then tragically, if they persist in rebelling against the Lord who wants to forgive and save them, they will die and will spend an eternity in everlasting torment. They eventually will be thrown into the Lake of Fire for all eternity!

Now you now know why I boldly share the Gospel and the Truth of God’s Holy Word to which we must answer to.

One thing seems certain though: everyone in power in the West seems to be unanimous in demanding that Maduro be overthrown.

Which begs the question: why?

I’m not sure yet myself what the real reasons at play here are. It feels like Venezuela is just the only country left that the US can wallop without suffering any real casualties or consequences. There’s that explanation and then the whole “war for oil” thing plus the military industrial complex demanding fresh wars.

One thing is for sure: the official reasons that are given make no sense.

Pompeo’s speech at the UNSC was a blast to the past, a return to Bush-era rhetoric: “Either you’re with us, or you’re evil.”

Nearly two decades later, and absolutely nothing has changed.

There are more countries than not in the Third World suffering from hunger and a mismanaged economy. The Establishment shills seem content enough to allow them to wallow in their own poverty though. Only Venezuela keeps Pompeo tossing and turning at night worrying about the humanitarian situation there.

And the worst part is that it’s all so contrived and insulting.

Because they actually expect you to believe and parrot the official line that this whole thing is about saving Venezuelan children from hunger. If they dropped the faux humanitarian language, it would all be so much less demeaning and exasperating for the American people. Just think: if they rationally stated the case for why a foreign power was a threat to our own, would peoples have such seething disgust for America’s role in the world?

I think people would feel a lot better about the situation.

It’s one thing to pick a fight and lose. It’s another to be destroyed and told that it was for your own good. And quite another when everyone has to listen to Neocons like Pompeo blather on about muh values and muh babies.

So in other words, as above, you take out the bits you like and reject those you don't like. You seem to think that all mankind is God's children, reading the Bible should have taught you that this is not so. Would you consider Hitler, Stalin or Pol Pot God's children? And BTW there are no " inconsistencies and contradictions in the Bible".

To read the Bible in this way you first have to be a Christian, you have to be willing to listen to God. Your previous points have demonstrated that this is not the case so you cannot claim to receive the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

Remember, much of contemporary science is just the opinions of fallible men. It is not without reason that it is spoken of as the best current understanding, tomorrow it might be different. And when it becomes different, you will have to change your theology. What you really mean is that you place your opinion as the authority and accept anything in Scripture that matches up to that.

6. "We realize that there is no “objective, one, right way” to interpret a passage – and we recognize that there is no reading of any text – including the Bible – that doesn’t involve interpretation. We also realize that each person interprets the text via their own personal experiences, education, upbringing, socio-political context, and more."

In other words you can make the Bible mean whatever you want.

And what hermeneutic was Jesus using when He said:

And then will I declare to them, I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.

And this is just a way of modifying the meaning to fit your prejudices.

So in other words, you place the books that say things you don't like low down on the list. What a dishonest way of reading the Bible.

Truly I tell you, it will be more bearable for Sodom and Gomorrah on the day of judgment than for that town.”

And the result of Sodom's sin was that they were sliding down that slippery slope we see in Romans 1:18-32.

What would you think filled in the blanks? What would you think of the language? What would it remind you of?

Don't worry; this was just the style of a fire-ant-killer commercial I heard yesterday. Still, it bothered me so much that I came home and looked it up to see what the hell was creeping me out.

This commercial is supposed to be funny, but in talking about exterminating fire ants, it relies on language and imagery used throughout history to talk about the extermination of people, as well. Think what you will about my fascination with language and animals-as-stand-ins-for-humans in media, but really, how many pest extermination spots have you heard delve into the intrinsic worthlessness of pests? Annoyance and inconvenience, sure. But no-contribution-to-"mankind?" I don't run across that everyday.

I'm also hearing the commercial in a historical context as well, I suppose. I've talked previously about how media outlets reinforce connections made between people of color, particularly immigrants, and vermin/pests. Late 19th/early 20th century cartoons often portrayed Chinese Americans as living with/eating/making pets of rats and the queues of men of Chinese descent were drawn to look like rats' tails. Another example is the racist comparison of people of Mexican descent to cockroaches. And think about the ways we talk about immigration, in terms of "swarms" and "invasions." [...]

The writers of the entire Bible from Genesis to Revelation had no training in astronomy or astrophysics. Neither did they know about “red giant stars”. That does not change any prophecy about the resurrection, matters of faith, or current science.

Secondly, the light that will illuminate heaven will be the divine light from the very glory of Jesus Christ in his divine state. There will not be a need for the sun or the solar system in the new earth and new heavens [all the stellar universe]. Jesus has been creating places for all believers now for at least two thousand years nearly. I cannot imagine the detail and particulars Jesus has in mind. So I am not worried about our Sun going to Red Giant status.

Jesus did promise to return on the Last Day of human history, resurrect all the dead both righteous and the wicked, change the living at the time of His return in the blink of an eye, judge every person from all of human history fairly, separate [actually throw them] the wicked into a lake of fire forever, and then celebrate with all the faithful in our new eternal home!

The universe only appears to be billions of years old because of the current speed of light. Based on Genesis 1, originally…. light could have had unlimited light speed. This would account for God saying,” let there be light”. Then when God separated light from darkness, He changed the speed of light to the current speed. This secondary change then made the universe seem much older.

Gen 1: 1 says that in the beginning God created space [universe, Hebrew word used was heaven] and matter [Hebrew word used was earth]. Therefore, I would not ascribe any limitation to Almighty God.

But I would note that God foretells literally melting this earth with fire in the book of Peter as a form of judgement. He destroyed the earth once with water in the flood. He promised not to repeat that action. The next time, He will use fire. Perhaps God will cause the Sun to go into supernova mode at that time. Who knows.

Those who are among the faithful will be with Jesus in that New Earth and New Heaven in Revelation.
