Absolutely. A prophet, by definition, is the mouthpiece of God used by Him to declare the judgment that will come upon certain nations or areas (foretelling and forthtelling). The youths were aware of this. Why the strict judgment? They were openly mocking who they knew to be the prophet of the nations, and they were unknowingly mocking God Himself by doing so. These youths came from the city - that implies knowledge of who Elisha claimed to be. They were sarcastically taunting and insulting the Lord's prophet by telling him to repeat Elijah's translation ("go up"). Mocking one who has a mission to proclaim God's judgment is not a smart idea. Thus, the youths were judged.

Look at Africa rite now, the reason that you're having that huge AIDS epidemic over there is cause nobody's limiting themselves to just their spouse(s). my proof:
I spent 3 years as an injecting drug user. everyday. I shared spoons. ( Never needles) I was involved with people who had every kind of hepatitis and all sorts of other nastey things.( no insult intended)
U had a cold for the whole time.
I quit cold turkey, no withdrawl, and proved a clean blood test.
This proves what the BIBLE says. I have tasted the sulfur as some presense leaves your body. Brothers and sisters it tastes bad. Once it's gone, you can walk in peace.
Truly I don't care what you think but Hey it happened in my life. Maybe you'll never experience something like this.
