Quote# 20634

[From an article in Improvement Era, 1926 -- an LDS periodical]

WHY NOT ABOLISH JAZZ?

[...]

Jazz, as has already been pointed out by others, came from the Jungle. It belongs to the savage who cannot produce or appreciate the beauty in music as we of the cultivated and enlightened races are supposed to be capable of doing. If jazz is to be continued because it gives "pep," let those who want that kind of pep hie themselves to a place where they can indulge in it without annoying others who do not like it. No one appreciates a lively, stirring tune more than the writer, but there is a great difference between the banging, rasping sounds associated with jazz and the invigorating airs that might be played. Music can be lively and still possess harmony and rhythm.

Perhaps the writing of this article is a waste of time that could be profitably spent in other work, but the writer has long felt that he must say something on this subject. The pity of it all is our younger people seem to delight in jazz because of a notion that it is offensive to the conservative, and they are never so happy as when they feel they are in revolt. I am convinced that it is this that has sustained jazz so long; surely, surely it cannot be due to a genuine love of it; if so, what are we coming to, or rather going back to? But I have already given a hint as to this!

I cannot see much use in trying to inculcate in the people a love of the beautiful in music whilst jazz is tolerated at the theatres and public dance halls, and even in the amusement halls controlled by the church people. As far as the Latter-day Saints are concerned, why cannot we maintain the excellent standards set up by the recreation committees? Why insist upon music that has been copied from savage tribes?

[In an LDS commentary; "Doctrine and Covenants Commentary." Here it deals with Section 25, which declares that God delights "in the song of the heart."]

So called "ragtime" breeds frivolity, and appeals to the vulgar. Set to sacred text, it may produce a sensation of distressing incongruity. "Jazz" is an abomination, an evidence of recrudescence of savagery.

" 'War music arouses the best in man, while "jazz" music appeals to the lowest elements in his nature,' says Louis Guyon, a dancing master of Chicago who has won great prosperity for himself by refusing to permit the modern dances to be performed on his mammoth floor. 'I have always fought the "ragtime" dance as immoral, indecent and vulgar, and I have found that thousands of people still felt that the old-time waltz, two-step and polka were totally different from the "jazz" measures.'

[Why are females so hated (or is it feared?) in Africa and the Middle East?]

The answer lies in civilizing these tribals, through conversion to Christianity. It is a simple prescription, but has worked for 2000 years. Exisitence of such savage behavior is directly proportional to the absence of Christianity.

This is the problem women go in and get abortions with out even knowing the fetal development. Beating heart arms legs. Brain waves detected. Many people believe they are just removing a little ball of tissue. The problem is it is a little ball of tissue that looks like a baby.

Quote# 20589

We'll Soon Be Witnesses of the 'infamous' Second Coming, what a privillege!!

Please take a minute to ask yourself this question.

Why was I born in this current generation?

What's so special about me that God reserved me to be born at this point in time?

Why do I get butterflies when I hear of wars and rumors of wars?

Why do I remain calm when bombs go off and people start panicking?

What is my purpose of being here during these last days?

There sure has got to be something unique and special about me for God to include me in this generation?

Why is that Paul, Daniel, Jeremiah (the hardcore preachers of the WORD), why aren't they here to witness the Second Coming?

What so special about me that I'm about to witness the single most significant change in History, the Second Coming?

Pray and ask God these things because it cannot be by chance that we've been chosen to witness this awesome (words can't describe) event.
I thank God I'm alive to witness this and to hear the voice of Jesus shout ( i'm having butterflies just by typing this).
We've been chosen since the beginning of Time to be successors of His Kingdom. It's not an emergency hand picking of those that has to be saved and those that don't, It has already been prepared.

Those that know they're going when Michael sounds the trumpet, give me an AMEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

['That does not justify being cruel, rude or anything to that sort.']

I have reviewed this thread, and found nothing cruel, rude or crude.

I assume you are referring to the word queer. Well, when I checked my dictionary, I found the following definitions:

1. strange or odd from a conventional viewpoint; unusually different.

2. of a questionable nature or character; suspicious; shady.

3. not feeling physically right or well; giddy, faint, or qualmish: to feel queer.

4. mentally unbalanced or deranged.

At least two, if not all of those definitions apply to the sodomite.

Quote# 20611

I interpret the Beast described in the Bible as a government, as the rising of a New World Government. I think this New World Government is taking manifestation as we speak; the sacrificing of American citizens' liberties and civil rights which is provided to them by the constitution in name of homeland security to fight world terrorism, is this NWO. A government that enslaves the planet by destroying democracy, putting all the power in it's own hand, and finally putting microchips into the flesh of every human being and with out it, you will not be able to partcipate in any function of society like have a job or buy and sell. This is the Mark of the Beast, and I think it will be the microchip. Some people today are already walking around with chips in their flesh but thankfully it is not domestic or international law requireing all people to have one.

In order for this to happen, they have to get the world to adjust to their evil system. They have been making school children give fingerprints to check out a book and the Real ID Act may become law by the end of next year. All these are just preperations of government that may manifest in our lifetimes. The NWo is trying to get us adjusted to their new evil system.

Because I am against this New World Government and consider it the Beast described in the Bible, I do what I can so that I am not supporting it because I think if I do, I will be damned.

I am afraid that I may have done so in supporting this beast and have made myself an enemy of God. Today I went to the airport to give the FBI my fingerprints for an entry level job. It turns out that they never fingerprinted entry level workers at the airport prior to 9/11. I feel I have supported the beast and am tainted with unforgivable sin.

Quote# 20570

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - Thomas Paine may have helped inspire the American Revolution, but inspiring Arkansas lawmakers to commemorate a day in his honor is another matter.

The proposal by Rep. Lindsley Smith, D-Fayetteville, to commemorate Jan. 29 as "Thomas Paine Day" failed in the state House of Representatives after a legislator questioned Paine's writings criticizing the Bible and Christianity.

The vote Thursday was 46-20 in favor of the measure, but 51 votes were needed to pass.

Smith said before the vote that Arkansas would join nine other states that have established Thomas Paine Day. She said the day would not be considered a state holiday and would not require any additional costs.

"I think if Thomas Jefferson and James Madison were standing here today, they would give you the same presentation about Thomas Paine," Smith said. "He needs to be remembered and he's not remembered."

But Rep. Sid Rosenbaum, R-Little Rock, quizzed Smith about Paine and quoted passages from Paine's book, "The Age of Reason," which Rosenbaum criticized as anti-religion.

"He did some good things for the nation, but the book that he wrote was anti-Christian and anti-Jewish," Rosenbaum said. "I don't think we should be passing things out like this without at least debating it and letting people in the House know what we're voting on."

I think that creation should be taught and the truths of the Bible, but not religion. We're suposed to be righteous not religious. Religion killed Jesus. The Pharisees were extremly religious. It's disturbing that we're supposed so tolerent of everyone and everything except when it comes to the truth.

First, we need to understand that religion is already taught in public schools. The problem is that Christ is not taught.

* New York and California both teach Islamic studies.
* When I was in school in South Carolina, we were taught that the Christians tried to take over the world and persecuted non-believers (the conquests and the inquisitions). Those were not Christian actions, they were Catholic actions.
* Other schools teach Buddhist meditation and secular humanism
* All schools teach evolutionism.

Let me say it this way:

I do not want religion taught in public education (I do want FACTS such as the account of creation taught). However, I do beileve there should be choice in education and that choice should include the public funding, without oversight, of private alternative forms of education including private religious education as well as home schools.

In other words, we need vouchers.

Brother Randy is right. They don't even teach the truth about the creation of the world, much less Christianity.
Evolution and atheism are the two religions taught in public schools - and all the bad things that go with that, like Buddhism - "safe sex", etc.

I can't see a reason why it would be good to teach about Islam or Buddhism. Why learn the tenets of Islam or the teachings of Buddha? They're false religions, after all. Maybe historically it'd be fine, but there's no real reason to go into the religion itself, right?

In other words, we need vouchers.

Does God Hate America?

The wicked shall be turned into hell,
and all the nations that forget God.
Psalm 9:17

The Canaanites sacrificed their own children to their god, Molech, by passing them through the fire. God hated the Canaanites due to their exceedingly wicked practices.

And yet, how is America any different? Do we not slaughter 4,000 defenseless unborn children every day? God hated the Canaanites, and it is my conviction that He hates America as well. We are greedy, perverse, worshipers of the Sodomite, and killers of the innocent.

This is not intended to be a debate of homosexuality or abortion. Rather, it is a discussion of whether God loves or hates the USA. I firmly believe He hates this nation.

...and, my friends, His Hatred is Holy!
