Quote# 54859

Ritualistic Baal worship, in sum, looked a little like this: Adults would gather around the altar of Baal. Infants would then be burned alive as a sacrificial offering to the deity. Amid horrific screams and the stench of charred human flesh, congregants – men and women alike – would engage in bisexual orgies. The ritual of convenience was intended to produce economic prosperity by prompting Baal to bring rain for the fertility of "mother earth."

.............

Modern liberalism deviates little from its ancient predecessor. While its macabre rituals have been sanitized with flowery and euphemistic terms of art, its core tenets and practices remain eerily similar. The worship of "fertility" has been replaced with worship of "reproductive freedom" or "choice." Child sacrifice via burnt offering has been updated, ever so slightly, to become child sacrifice by way of abortion. The ritualistic promotion, practice and celebration of both heterosexual and homosexual immorality and promiscuity have been carefully whitewashed – yet wholeheartedly embraced – by the cults of radical feminism, militant "gay rights" and "comprehensive sex education." And, the pantheistic worship of "mother earth" has been substituted – in name only – for radical environmentalism.

("I pray that you invest more of your time in learning about how the Bible was written")

Hi cloudrifter! Nice to see you here. You many not know that I'm a student of the Bible. I am devoted to learning.

If you have any questions about how the Bible was written, I would love to answer them. Having spent countless hours in study, I have this information at my fingertips.

I suppose where we differ is in our beliefs that the Bible is the Word of God, not man. I believe it to be the Word of God and inerrant, and to this day, there is nothing to prove that it isn't. So, you have your beliefs, and I have mine.

Not only has the Bible never been proven to be false in any way, discoveries continue to prove the Bible correct.

My belief that the Bible is inerrant is foundational to my belief in God and Jesus, our Savior. If you take just one thing and say that God didn't really mean what He said, you might as well throw the whole Book away because everything else will fall like a house of cards.

God said it, I believe it. We are all free to choose what we believe.

[This is a comment in response to: If Creationism is taught, then other faith-based origin stories should be taught as well. Would there be time left for serious learning?]

Comment 1: Evolution is faith-based teaching. There is no proof for it only very shaky evidence.

Definition of a cult:
1) As an unquestioning loyalty and blind allegiance to a mortal, belief or idea that has erected walls of protection around it from examination.

2) Believes unquestionably what is taught by "experts" while rejecting reality/self-evidence.

Comment 2: There is equal or surpassing scientific evidence for Creation.
Thousands of books with the wrong evidence are not as good as one that has the correct information. Hitler put a book out that was called "1000 Scientists prove that Einstein was Wrong."

No one has observed a change in species, only adaptation.

Ben Stein's excellent movie "Expelled" shows how anything against Evolution is silenced.

Two, homosexual activists really are out to silence the voice of evangelical Christians. They want Warren muzzled and driven off the platform, and my guess is that they will boo him off if Obama doesn’t pull him off first. Unless cooler heads prevail, we may see the exercise of a heckler’s veto like we have never seen before. Imagine the sound of 4 million people booing in unison, and you’ve got a picture of what may happen at the inauguration ceremony…We have only seen the beginning of this saga. There is just no way left-wing activist groups are done putting pressure on Obama to repent in dust and ashes. They will be relentless until he recants, and make him pay if he doesn’t.

Their skepticism is actually nothing more than low intelligence, possibly even mild retardation in certain cases.....

I mean this as no offense to any non-believers here, just an observation.

Quote# 54740

Newsweek magazine effectively declared war on marriage this week, running a long essay on "The Religious Case for Gay Marriage" as their cover story. In the wake of the victory of California's marriage amendment (Proposition 8) on Election Day, homosexual marriage advocates are realize that their opponents are not going to fade away or compromise their convictions. Not content any longer to make a "separation of church and state" argument for same-sex "marriage," they are instead mounting a direct attack on Christian opposition to homosexual conduct and to same-sex "marriage" on Biblical grounds.

There was little that was original about the essay. It strung together a lot of talking points that have wafted about the homosexual movement for years. What was astonishing was that the author (Newsweek's religion editor Lisa Miller) not only tried to explain away the Bible's condemnation of homosexual conduct, but actually claimed that "Scripture gives us no good reason why gays and lesbians should not be (civilly and religiously) married-and a number of excellent reasons why they should."

The article included blatant factual errors, such as the claim that Jesus never "explicitly defines marriage as between one man and one woman" (see, e.g., Mark 10:6-8-"But from the beginning of creation, God MADE THEM MALE AND FEMALE. FOR THIS REASON A MAN SHALL LEAVE HIS FATHER AND MOTHER, AND THE TWO SHALL BECOME ONE FLESH; so they are no longer two, but one flesh."), and the claim that "nowhere in the Bible do its authors refer to sex between women" (see Romans 1:26). It also had logical contradictions, arguing for the Bible's support of "gay marriage" while simultaneously dismissing the Bible as supportive of slavery and anti-Semitism.

If homosexual activists want to simply ignore the Bible, they are free to do so. If they are going to blatantly distort its teachings, Newsweek should not help them do so.

We urge you to email Newsweek today and demand that the magazine print an accurate article presenting the Bible's true teaching about homosexual conduct and same-sex "marriage"-one equal in length to the Miller piece (which was over 2,700 words) and also run as the cover story.

I figure that Intelligent Design theory is far more honest than theories of Evolution.

Quote# 54696

To answer this question "Why are Christians against gay marriages" one must look to an external source for truth. This truth comes from something that is not related to humanistic thought. The source is objective and it is the Bible.

Christians are against gay marriages because these marriages are against the nature that God has created. Christians and non-christians alike are made in the image of God (Genesis 1:26-27, 9:6).

Humankind surrendered their natural state (the image in which they were created) to worship themselves rather than God. This behavior is against the purposes and intentions of God. Romans 1:24-27 says, "Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator - who is forever praised. Amen. Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion."

God's intention was for sexual pleasure between a man and woman (in a monogamous marital relationship), also for reproductive purposes. Gay marriages go against what God intended and this is another reason why Christians are against gay marriages. Genesis 2:22-24 lays out God's plan for marriage: "Then the LORD God made a woman from the rib he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man. The man said, 'This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called "woman," for she was taken out of man.' For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will become one flesh."

God did not make man for man in this context, God made the woman for the man. Christians are against gay marriages because it brings defilement into marriage (Hebrews 13:4).

Christians are against gay marriages because it is a lie, and people are deceived. God did not create anyone homosexual. It is a lifestyle that a person chooses.

If you are homosexual, we encourage you to look deep inside yourself. Are you joyful and happy? Look at your anatomy, what do you see? This is who you are created to be! There is help, just a prayer away. Acknowledge your situation, confess it, and turn to Jesus. He is there. Secure support from others who have been in your situation and have escaped the lifestyle
