Quote# 36889

Take, for example, the situation my four-year-old friend Sarah found herself in. According to Sarah, “My friend told me that dinosaurs lived millions of years ago, but I told her that wasn’t true.” Even at four years old, Sarah was able to pick up on a false view because her parents had instilled in her the difference between what’s wrong and what’s right.

...

Just as we use the Bible to teach our children morality, so we need to use the Bible to teach our children history by tearing down for them the wrong view of history and building up the right (biblical) view of history.

(To another Christian who was complaining about all the "witch craft" being sold at Barnes & Noble)

Doesn't the Calvin and Hobbes cartoon promote disrespect for parents, destructive anti-social behavior, sexism, and belief in evolution? I know I've seen that flagrantly displayed and even jokingly encouraged throughout its pages. Bookstores carry that awful material too.

Charles Sloan, you should be ashamed of yourself. Please tell me that you at least shield that cartoon from your children, even if you do brashly display it in your avatar and your signature.

(after being called on another racist, homophobic Facebook post)

I find it ironic that this quote has found it's way onto a "fundy" website, being that I am not even close to a religious fundamentalist. I also find it ironic that the person who put this quote on here is too afraid to let me know who it is, but instead goes through the trouble to create an entirely new facebook under an ex-girlfriend's name to send me the link. It sounds to me like another typical liberal puss. And for those of you who disagree with me, France would love to have you. This country was founded on certain moral standards, and I don't feel that I should have to compromise those morals for you people.

Criticize the Bible all you want, you have that right.

"Science is based upon verifiable evidence." Richard Dawkins

Where is the evidence, the verifiable evidence for evolution? Where is the missing link? Just one fossil as evidence and evolution would be the winner.

Mountains and mountains of fossils over millions of years........and scientists cant even find ONE.

Your so smart.......where are they?

[Thread topic: The process of intelligent design]

God gave earth a dinosaur period so that we could have oil, gasoline, and polymer hydrocarbons for plastics in the 21st century. If you look at the incredible properties of oil, you whould know God was thinking, "Now how do I get the most energy in the smallest possible density with out them having to know quantum mechanics". You know, oil comes from dead dinosaurs. That was their purpose.

[after a long-winded, mostly-inaccurate description of Pokemon]

Nintendo has capitalized on the vulnerability of the novice. The clerks at Barnes and Noble Bookseller's promote Pokemon as an entry level game designed to prepare the uninitiated for the game called "Magic: the Gathering." "Magic: the Gathering" trains the apprentice for "Dungeons & Dragons" and Advanced Dungeons & Dragons." Like "Harry Potter" of the modern best seller fiction novels, the Masters of "Advanced Dungeons & Dragons" are ready to be empowered for white witchcraft. The popularity of such spiritual games has laid the groundwork for many who have fallen into the coven of Wicca.... (cf. Deuteronomy 18:9-14)

[On the movie: X2: X-men united]

Looking at my ratings, you might think I didn't like the movie. That's not true, as I did enjoy the movie very much. However, looking at this from a CHRISTIAN perspective, there is much to find offensive in this film. For me though, it wasn't the violence and language that offended me, but the character of Nightcrawler. His obsession with Roman Catholic tradition (praying rosary and self punishment among other things) marred what could have been a great character with Christian beliefs. Remove the rubbish, leave in the prayers (except for Rosary) and you have a Christian character, which would have been cool.

[They gave the movie a 3/5 for quality and rated its moral value as "extremely offensive"]

Hi

I don't agree with you.
Many die in the hospitals; in the presence of the Physicians and Surgeons; they were helpless to do anything. Physicians and Surgeons themselves die even taking the latest treatment. Many of them would have survived if they would have prayed also alongwith the treatment by medicine. Prayer as well as medical treatment in essential for cure. Please don't be unrealistic and superstitious.

Evolution is the dumbest fucking thing I have ever heard of. I never try and push my beliefs on anybody but as soon as they find out I don't agree. I am somehow stupid for not believing something that has not basis whatsoever besides being dreamed up by some quack who on his death bed said he made it all up. If you want to belive that you came from a retarded fish chipmunk that got buttfucked by a monkey and know you are here then that is fine, but I don't push on you so stop shoveling your shit on me. If we follow evolutions meaning, and we came from monkeys and shit, then why the FUCK are they still here, it means evolving from one thing to another, so there shoudln't be any Damn monkeys anywhere. God you people are so stupid, no wonder you think you came from monkeys.

You might wonder how such people appear so normal and personable on TV and in movies if they fit the picture I've been painting. The media treats homosexuals like they do the blacks. There are about 35 million blacks in this country and half of them are feeble-minded. But it's no big job to find a couple of hundred thousand intelligent blacks in their upper-class to present as the norm.

The media does the same with homosexuals. As you see them in TV interviews, talk shows, etc. they seem quite normal and unaffected. Not all homosexuals act like fairies and many of those who do in their day-to-day life can change and act straight before a camera.

In 1980, I was 20 years old. I was working as a Cablevision installer/tech and worked with 5-6 other 20-something guys.

David B. was an ardent atheist, and a very good friend. He explained to me one day:

"Mark, you can SEE evolution at work all around you. I can show you people who are still evolving. Look at the blacks here in Jackson, their noses, faces - compare a full-blooded African face to an ape's face.
See it? Blacks are obviously lower on the evolutionary scale than we are."

From that day forward, evolution became, to me, intellectualized racism. Nothing more.

So what a piece of ice fell into the water. You don't think this ever happened before the Devil created the fairy tail religion of global warming? Don't you people that think this garbage (that's right I called it garbage) is real have Faith in our King, the Lord of Lords who controls Nature? Do you not understand that this is all predestined and there is an appointed time for all things? Just wait until these knuckle heads see what God can really do with the sun. For in the Trib 1/3 of the earth will be scorched by the sun and you know what, the sun will be cut in half during this period. Wow half the energy of the sun that we feel today burning the planet up. Man made my rear end!

Oh ye of little faith, I think everyone needs to go read Mathew Chapter 8 and ponder what Christ is telling us. For he is in total control, you are free from fear mongering people that control the media. Stop putting your faith in man for he is controlled by the Prince of the Air and will fail you repeatedly. You need you wake up and understand that the Lord of All has ultimate authority over nature!

I agree with Stein. Every natural history museum, every university bio department and every peer-reviewed science journal in the entire world is taking part in a vast conspiracy against the truth. Even religious leaders like Pope John Paul are in on it. We Christians need to speak out against these "scientists". What do they know? Just because they've spent their lives studying rock formations, that doesn't mean they can tell us how? the Grand Canyon was formed.

I think [atheist extremism] is a form of self-worship. They have delusions of godhood, they are self-righteous and they get angry if you refuse to kiss they're butt. So when you tell them that you believe in a power greater than them, they become jealous (Satan). Some "Christians" act this way as well, but I think those are just athiests pretending to be christian. If these athiests had their way, they would have "God" removed from "The Pledge of Allegiance". They'd have all copies of the Holy Bible burned. If an athiest ever acquired godlike power, he'd stop pretending to be a "good" person and take full advantage of his new abilities. I don't believe in comic books.
I believe everyone is flawed. VERY FLAWED. Everyone is capable of evil. I had no faith in people until I became christian. Before that, I was all these things above and I just thought life on planet earth was pointless for everyone. Without God, our existence means nothing. Just some random joke. So even if it wasn't real, we need it.

Quote# 36820

Is encouraging or teaching about homosexuality what our forefathers expected for the public education they founded? Even the most liberal among them opposed it. For example, Thomas Jefferson drafted a bill concerning the criminal laws of Virginia, in which he proposed that the penalty for sexual deviance should be unique corporal punishment. Jefferson's views were indeed representative of early America.

"Whosoever shall be guilty of rape, polygamy, or sodomy with man or woman shall be punished, if a man, by castration, if a woman, by cutting thro' the cartilage of her nose a hole of one half inch diameter at the least" (Bill 64, 1779). Can you imagine a statesman proposing such a law today?

While I'm not of course espousing such treatment, I do believe that we should equally and adamantly oppose such aberrant sexual behavior from being condoned or commemorated in our public schools through textbooks or a so-called "Day of Silence."

Christians, what is your favorite anti atheist arguments?
My personal favorite was a talk me and my brother was having. He was talking about dogs and how they had the power to heal themselves. So I told him God made the dogs that way. He then wants to argue about the intricate details of the saliva and that is where the healing comes from. I stepped up to plate and told him God created the dog and all that the dog is, Praise God, for he placed into their saliva the ability to heal. The glory belongs to God! He just looked at me, and could argue no more.

There are aitheists who tall us to prove that God is real. It's amazing how they can't prove that God isn't real.

When confronted with the old earth idea, And it's evidence there of. I like to ask them if they would mind explaining eternity to me. And when they cannot, then I say: Could it be that God was showing his awesome power over time, through eternity, by making things look older than they really are?

Which means we have a choice. We take the evidence as truth in physical time (not of God), or we take the evidence as God's power to create through the eternal (which is where God lives). And when they try and explain it away through scientific terms, I ask them: What scientific laws apply to God? And what scientific laws apply to eternity? To completely disprove 6 day creation, God and eternity would have to be testible. For that is the scientific way, right?

Quote# 36823

To understand why abortion is still illegal, despite Roe v. Wade, you must begin by doing something few Americans bother with anymore – reading the preamble to the U.S. Constitution.

"We the people of the United States, in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America," it says.

Important words all. But I want you to focus right now on those to whom this document applies. Who are the subjects and beneficiaries of the Constitution, as stated clearly in the preamble?

The answer? "… to ourselves and our posterity …"

The word "ourselves" in this context refers to those men who wrote it – and to their generation of Americans.

"Posterity," which literally means "descendants" or all succeeding generations, refers, in this context, to all those Americans yet unborn.

Is your great, great, great, great granddaughter your posterity? Absolutely. Is she born yet? Absolutely not. Does the fact that she is not yet born make her any less your posterity? No.

I have just a fundamental understanding of science, with a B.S. in nursing. During my course study we touched on molecular biology. The pure evolutionist contends that coming from amorphous gas, matter, and basic elements, somehow, the most simple form of life came into being, the amebia. The missing link, in my mind, is how life progressed from something like an amebia, which doesn't have a cell nucleus to a cell with a nucleus. If one understands how complicated the nucleus of a cell is, which we are still trying to understand on the molecular level; this is what the evolusionist has to answer. Furthermore, the nucleus of more advanced cells are involved in Dna synthesis and Dna and Rna replication. It would appear that these processes are the most complcated coding systems on the planet and isn't there always intelligence behind coding
