In the wake of the Supreme Court ruling in its favor, the town of Greece, New York issued a new policy that will bar atheists from delivering opening invocations at city functions, the Center for Inquiry (CFI) reports.

According to the new policy, “[t]he invocation shall be voluntarily delivered by an appointed representative of an Assemblies List for the Town of Greece.” That list will be compiled by the clerk of the town board, and will consist of “assemblies with an established presence in the Town of Greece that regularly meet for the primary purpose of sharing a religious perspective.”

This policy dictates that no group lacking a “religious perspective” will be allowed onto the “Assemblies List,” which means that speakers who lack such perspectives will not be eligible to deliver opening invocations. The “Assemblies List” will consist of “all ‘churches,’ ‘synagogues,’ ‘congregations,’ ‘temples,’ ‘mosques’ or other religious assemblies in the Town of Greece” — meaning that the policy specifically excludes anyone who does not participate in a “religious assembly” from delivering an opening invocation.

The Town Board justified its decision by noting that “our country’s Founders recognized that we possess certain rights that cannot be awarded, surrendered, nor corrupted by human power, and the Founders explicitly attributed the origins of these, our inalienable rights, to a Creator.” The policy does not “show a purposeful preference of one religious view over another,” because it does not permit “the faith of the person delivering the invocation to be considered when extending an invitation[.]”

However, it does require that the person invited have a faith, which as the Center For Inquiry’s CEO Ronald A. Lindsay noted, “in effect, bar[s] the nonreligious from delivering invocations.” Lindsay also noted that in the town’s decision violated the spirit of the Supreme Court ruling, in which Justice Kennedy, writing for the majority, wrote that he hoped Greece “would welcome a prayer by any minister or layman who wished to give one.”

Using a similar justification, a Florida city council also banned all non-religious individuals from delivering opening invocations at public functions.

No matter how many people you talk to about your Christian faith you will never find more than three categories for why people reject the offer of the gospel. Those three reasons are Intellectual, Emotional and Volitional.

Intellectual: Some people you talk to about Christ will not accept what you are saying on account of the fact that they don’t find Christianity intellectually viable. Their understanding of science or philosophy or history does not accord with Christianity or their perception of Christianity. Perhaps they believe the existence of evil/suffering makes the Christian idea of God impossible or their commitment to science and the belief in philosophical naturalism makes them reject the possibility of Jesus’ resurrection. Their worldview is fundamentally incompatible with Christianity and therefore they reject it. This is true not just of Atheism but of any worldview which collides with the Christian worldview including other religions like Islam or Hinduism, etc.

Emotional: Some people will reject Christianity for irrational reasons and their objection is purely emotional. That is to say they don’t have an intellectual issue such as thinking there is insufficient evidence to believe God exists or that Jesus rose from the dead, but perhaps they have been hurt by someone who was a Christian and this has poisoned the well. They were cheated by a business man who claimed to be a Christian, abused by a caregiver who claimed to be a Christian, or they grew up in church and saw a lot of hypocrisy. None of this is evaluative of the intellectual validity of Christianity, but they don’t want anything to do with it because they’ve been emotionally jaded to it.

Volitional: Some people will not accept Christianity simply because they don’t want to. It’s not that they don’t think Christianity is intellectually viable, and it’s not that they’ve had a particularly bad experience that has turned them off to Christianity, rather, they know that Christianity would require more from them than they want to give. Becoming a Christian requires devotion to God and actively attending a church and they’d rather sleep in on Sundays and spend their time otherwise engaged with things that interest them more. Christianity may be true, but becoming a Christian would mean having to stop sleeping with their girlfriend outside of marriage, or even to give money to the church or poor people. In many cases this group has religion on the backburner; they’ll get to it, just maybe later when it’s more convenient.

Above all, each category of person needs prayer. The overarching reason people reject the Christian message is because of their own depravity. They are dead in their trespasses and sin (Ephesians 2:1-10) and they do not seek for God (Romans 3:10-12) and the have exchanged the truth about God for a lie (Romans 1:18-32) and Satan has blinded their minds (2 Corinthian 4:4). God commands out apologetics effort (1 Peter 3:15) and he uses that as he draws people to himself. But ultimately people’s condition, no matter how it gets expressed, Intellectual, emotional or volitional, is a bi-product of their depravity. So pray for them, always start and end with the gospel, and try to address them where they are at.

Oh, we’d never say such a thing out loud, but our behavior declares our belief in it nonetheless. The fact that so many Christians struggle over the existence of Hell is evidence of our secret belief that humans rank higher with God than they actually do. Hell is only horrible from a human’s perspective—God is perfectly comfortable with its existence and all that happens in it. If we refuse to do so, He is quite happy to hurl us into Hell and He finds torturing us for an eternity far more rewarding than simply uncreating us. This is the same God who describes Himself as love. Yes, He is love, but He is many other things as well. Let’s not promote that one phrase as being a comprehensive description of God’s nature for it is not an accurate description of His core. God’s central motivation in all things is to please Himself. He created us for His own benefit, and everything He does with us and allows us to do has self-serving ends in mind. Even our rebellion serves Him in the end, for He is quite clear in Scripture that it glorifies Him in the eyes of others when He doles out just discipline upon those who defy Him. We were created for the purpose of glorifying God and He gives us two options in how to do that. We can either honor Him with our obedience or we can rebel against Him and set the stage for Him to avenge Himself at our expense. In the end, God’s standards are never compromised nor is He ever left feeling cheated by the final outcome with any one of us. Should we choose to clash our wills against His, we will suffer intensely but He will end up quite content with our receiving just punishment in Hell.

I decided that it’s better to spend my time thinking about what womyn can DO. Frankly, I think it’s about time we moved straight on to violence and destruction. Sudden violence and destruction. I know. It sounds bleak and ugly and dangerous. Well, things are already bleak and ugly and dangerous for womyn. How much worse could it be, really? If you spend enough time thinking about it, enough hours fuming in impotent rage, perhaps you’ll find that risking your life, oh, say, bombing a men’s prison starts to seem worth it, for the future if not for yourself. What else is there? Imagine this: what if nearly every woman on Earth killed a man in his sleep tonight? How nice could tomorrow be? Imagine taking the offensive for once. Playing defense isn’t working. All the damage control in the world doesn’t prevent damage. Personally, I really like taking long walks alone late at night. Ever think about how men destroy even the simplest pleasures in life? Tired of it yet? Tired enough? I am.

I’m not the least bit ashamed to admit that I support male genocide. But I know that any liberals who may be in the audience think that is very mean, and wonder: what about the “good men”? All seven of them, three of whom just haven’t been caught killing or abusing women or children yet. The answer is: collateral damage. And men agree with me.

Yes men, who will bomb an entire country to smithereens and murder thousands of non-combatants to smoke out a handful of terrorists, agree that human collateral damage is acceptable for a “good cause.” Men, who will pay other men to risk their lives rooting about in a huge hole in the ground to mine the metal, and dump toxic waste by-products in poor neighborhoods to keep their corporations producing your iCrap, are ok with human collateral damage. Men will risk exposing thousands to radiation and making whole cities uninhabitable for generations so that we can have electricity, even after witnessing the fallout of other nuclear meltdowns. Who cares about dozens of possible cases of leukemia and mutations in the local wildlife? Men think we need lights, dammit. Etc.

This means in Medieval Latin: smallpox of the cow. Thus associating a human disease with a disease of the cow. There never was such a disease as smallpox of the cow until "Dr." Jenner invented it for the title of his book.

I know all about harassment and bullying. I've said this to mention reports in the mainstream newsmedia about homosexuals committing suicide because of bullying, especially teens.

As a born-again Christian, I know what it feels like to be bullied. Boy do I know what it's like! I've been bullied my entire life for being a zealous Christian. I've been called “baby Jesus,” a “Bible-thumper,” and a lot of horrible other things in the workplace. I learned eventually to laugh at my self, so I wouldn't get upset. Someone would yell, “Hey As*hole,” and I'd yell back, “Yeah, who called me?” I was a tender-hearted man working with some cold-hearted people, and the two don't mix. It wasn't easy.

I've worked at various jobs throughout my work career. I worked in a truck shop for a few as a mechanic. A man came up to me one day at work and asked, “Why do you carry a Bible into work each day? It bothers me.” I replied, “Why do you have Playboy magazines in your toolbox?” It kindly told him, “It's where your heart's at.” He despised me, as did others. Another man threw a 3 lb. hammer at me and missed. I opened my locker and found a 3-page dropdown centerfold of a naked woman. They put whiskey on my toolbox, cigar butts, grease, and garbage. I found a capacitor on my toolbox one day and went to pick it up. I jumped a foot in the air when it discharged as I touched it. One man, Bob, spit on me. Another guy grabbed me by the throat and held me up against a truck. They cursed me on a daily basis.

One man threw my radio on the floor and broke it because he didn't like my Christian music (but he played ACDC, Van Halen and the Devil's music on his radio). I complained to my boss and he said, “If you can't take the heat, get out of the kitchen.” I had a family and needed my job. I was young in my early 20's and didn't know how to deal with all that harassment, so I endured and clung to my Bible. I put Scriptures on my toolbox. I prayed continually. God saw me through!

Robin Williams spent his life’s resources, time and ability and money promoting filth and sin and he was damn proud of it. “For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?” [Mark 8:36] Our Lord Lord Jesus Christ is true and faithful. While alive in his ministry on the earth, to warn his friends, Our Lord told about a very similar man like Robin Williams: Go with me to Luke Chapter 12. “And he spake a parable unto them, saying, The ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully: And he thought within himself, saying, What shall I do, because I have no room where to bestow my fruits? And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods. And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry. But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided? There are some examples from higher animals too who don't reproduce sexually, but they still have sex with the same-sex.

But in Horowitz’s world, Obama is cheering on ISIS because he’s a Muslim who hates America. “Obama is an anti-American radical and I’m actually sure he’s a Muslim, he certainly isn’t a Christian,” Horowitz said. “He’s a pretend Christian in the same way he’s a pretend American. It really is disgraceful. He's inviting the terrorists to behead more Americans when he should be attacking them with our military. His whole agenda in office has been to defeat America, he lost the war in Iraq deliberately, he created a vacuum which ISIS has filled.” “Saying he’s the worst president we’ve ever had is not saying enough.”

Horowitz also said that Obama is letting immigrants illegally cross the border in order to kill Americans through anthrax and beheadings. “When he was re-elected, the first thought that came into my mind is, a lot of people are going to be dead because of this election, and how right I was,” he said, warning that the president “destroyed our borders” in order to let “our enemies” enter the U.S. “They’re going to come across our border with their dirty bombs and their anthrax and whatever else, you know, their swords to behead us….The ones who are going to do the killing are coming across our open border and this president is not defending us.”

I remember when Mother Theresa died, who is infamous in the Catholic religion. They quoted her during the last years of her life saying that she had never felt the presence of God in her life. Of course she didn't, she was a Christ-rejecter. She fully rejected the Commandments of God so that she could keep her own traditions (Mark 7:9). Mark 7:7, “Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.” Mother Theresa didn't have the Holy Spirit of God. She tried to worship God with idolatrous statues, manmade traditions and worship of the Pope; but those are all finely paved roads to Hell fire and damnation!

It was only relatively recently, even in our (now highly feminist dominated) society that 14 year olds were LEGALLY married with their own children and such legal marriages were not considered immoral, perverted or indeed as anything related to paedophilia at the time.
Feminists and their bitter, jealousy founded ideologies changed everything related to sex and marriage into the ‘taboo’ that most of our sex-obsessed society believes it is today.

Much has been made over the question of whether eating meat is moral. The question generated so much debate because so many of the participants in the debate were atheists without any clear moral code. Lacking this, the only moral compass they possess is that of the society they are born in or that of their upbringing. In such a case the question of whether or not we are justified in inflicting pain on animals for our benefit comes down to nothing more than personal opinion and people will often defend irrational personal opinions vigorously.

If we contrast this with the unchanging truth of The Bible then our problems are resolved. Nowhere in the Bible is eating meat condemned. Furthermore the Old Testament tells us which animals we can eat. The New Testament expanded the potential smorgasbord. Given that the bible (and therefore God) has no objection to our eating meat there is obviously no moral objection on principal.

I see that the issue of "whence morality" was raised in the debate, but that nobody wanted to talk about it.

What about animal suffering?

The Old Testament specifies that animals be bled to death. Although authorities differ on the issue, it seems likely to me that the experience is unpleasant for the animal. Consequently there is no obvious reason for us to care about animal suffering.
