In many ways, Conservative style is the antithesis of the style adopted by Liberals.

The style of a conservative often includes these characteristics:

-A willingness to debate openly on all aspects of an issue or problem, without being tramelled by ideological preconceptions.

-Readiness to take responsibility for the consequences of ones words and deeds.

-Not using fluff or obfuscating but telling it as it is.

-Behaving with decency towards other people, and treating the opposite sex with respect.

@David Bennington:

Having stated your opinion, let's list off just a short sample of people, starting with those who disagree with you: George Washington, John Adams, John Jay, James Madison, Alexander Hamilton, Thomas Jefferson, Samuel Adams, Noah Webster, etc., etc. Now for those who agree with your belief that we need a "wholly secular state:" Adolf Hitler, V.I. Lenin, Josef Stalin, Mao Tse-Tung, Kim Il-Sung, and Saloth Sar (better known as Pol Pot).

That's one heck of a like-minded group of comrades, eh David?

As for me, I throw my lot in with the first group. Some quotes from them:
"Reason and experience both forbid us to expect that national morality can prevail in exclusion of religious principle."
-George Washington
"Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other."
-John Adams
"The greatest glory of the American Revolution was this: It connected in one indissoluble bond, the principles of civil government with the principles of Christianity."
-John Quincy Adams
"No power over the freedom of religion [is] delegated to the United States by the Constitution."
-Thomas Jefferson

I can say that the Devil witnessed and gave testimony to the reality of the Lord coming to visit me. The Lord came in His clearness and we talked for hours. The conversation started at 9 am during my morning bible study with prayer , the Bible and the concordance. When the conversation was over it was ten pm and yet I didn't know we had talked that long... it was so mind blowing. While I sat there in the livingroom lazyboy contenplating all that we had discussed .. My unsaved hubby came home from work.

The living room was dark because when I started the bible study it was light and now here it was night and the room was now dark. I didn't get out of the chair. My hubby walks from the back door through the kitchen to the livingroom. He gets to the doorway and stops. The devil lets out a scream and starts cursing. The reason I know it was the devil is because while my hubby may have been doing the spouting there is no way that he knew what had occured in this room.

Evolution is not a fact. It's crap in science book sold en masse to unwittingly foolish people who buy that and replace God and religion with it.

A human being, in all his complexities and consciousness is leagues beyond the mere apes inhabiting the planet. It's -NOT- proven. I repeat NOT proven. It is THEORIZED.

But the majority of posters will claim fake E-Degrees or are still in college and HIGH school, not realizing that School and Science have sought to become THEIR religion, and nothing else. Not even FREE thought.

"Yay, we read it in school, it must be true!" "Supposed experts who have only lived 40 years say it's true, so it must be!"

Did it ever occur to you that all our great scientists had a BELIEF in a higher being or god, and that without such a belief, science was null and void anyways? For many, it was the belief in science that God existed because it gave explanations to a complex universe.

Quote# 48246

The fact that proud athiest do not believe in anything of the supernatural is normal for them. They hold thier superiority over all who believe in a diety. Which is 95% of the Earths population. So as the Bible says: Things of the Spirit are foolishness to those who don't know the Spirit. But remember science 500 years ago SWORE that the Earth was flat. The Bible said it was round. 1500 years ago the best minds in the world believed theEarth was the center of the universe. The Bible says the sun is the center of the universe. Many athiest who mock all things of God...quietly entertain the thought of visiting a psychic, or believe a yogi may be truly enlightened. So it comes down to a hatred of God and Christianity...based on almost ZERO knowledge of God and Holy Bible. Remember this athiest....if you can prove scientifically (which... without God science is all you have in life) ANY part of the BIble to be false....you will not only destroy Christianity, but you will be famous and rich....(which is the true source of happiness right?) not all the Bible...not the tough parts...just any ONE part of the Bible. You prove it wrong...with all your vast superiority and you will do what no man... including those with greater minds than yours, I'm sorry to state...can do. Go ahead and try. Get started. Stop screaming at religious nut cases and end this arguement once and for all. Prove the Bible wrong. You should be able to do it since it a "collection of myths," and you are so much more intellectual than those knuckle-draggers that believe this stuff...so prove it wrong. OR.....give a second look

Q u o t e:
The fact of Evolution, that organisms have changed through time, has no reasonable alternatives. It is a fact that organisms are all related and share common descendants. The only arguable part of evolution is the theories explaining how, like Darwin's Theory of Evolution by Natural Selection. By even suggesting that it has not occurred is willful ignorance akin to saying the earth is flat.

This one irritates me, simply because evolution is no more testable than God is. Sure, you can talk about the "fossil evidence" and the observation in hindsight, but you can't actually go back and observe the process in the entirety it's espoused. You see evidence of progressive genetic change, I see evidence that God created a large amount of things using a similar blueprint (at least in reference to macroevolution; I could more readily accept microevolution).

So many of us are confused and shaken by the same thing. It just don't make sense.....yet even hard Bible teaching Churches just don't seem to be teaching it or making an issue of it. Friends that you know are saved, go to church and largely live by His word just don't, can't or won't see it and/or acknowledge it. Why???

Is it just us? Is it some special kind of faith that we have and most don't?
Are we just more serious about it, less lip service and going through the motions?
Is this a special End Times Gift given by the Holy Spirit to us to be Watchmen on the Wall?

How can this be so clearly defined, so sharp and bold, real and obvious as the noses on our face to us and so invisible to everybody else, even those we think are serious Born Again Believers?

I suspect one day we will be given the answers, but apparently not now. It is a puzzlement.

[topic: The demons which torment me]

I have fasted 2 1/2 days over this and I couldn't get them to leave. I believe that the enemy can read our minds. The ones in me react instantly to my thoughts. Also, what about those people who can read other people's minds? It's demonic I know, but that's also evidence that demons can read our minds. Yes the demons place emotions/thoughts into my mind. I have to refuse to give in to them. I ask the Lord to torment them with hellfire and they stop immediately...if they don't, I continue to attack them...then they finally stop. Also, if they couldn't read our minds, then how are they able to interact with me in my dreams when I argue with them, ect.

I just thank God that I have the Lord Jesus Christ in my heart. I can't imagine being unsaved and dying and going to hell being tormented forever by eternal fire and demons. This should motivate us to witness and tell others about Jesus.

It pains me at the ignorance of citizens yearning for a secular state, assuming that the morality saught by people of faith might be faulty. Please read some historical books on how this country began... people of Faith in a trancendent creator, God. From the first pilgrims to the framers of the constitution, they were all rooted in the JudeoChristian way. Then look at secular communism states. Choose your way of life...you wouldn't last a year in north Korea.

Quote# 48226

If you think politics and religion shouldn't be mixed you must not know our Founding Fathers or the documents they penned very well. The basic principles of Christianity are what our Country was founded on. Which “Creator” do you think they were referring to? Read the documents and it will be clear. The farther we move away from God as a Country, the worse our societal ills become. The great thing about our Country is that we can vote according to our respective consciences and this doesn't make us bigots; this makes us Americans. For me, a competent candidate is who I look for; a Christian competent candidate is even better. The true Christians (meaning “followers of Jesus Christ”) put God first, family second, “neighbors” (all others) third and themselves last. They do not worship money. They hate sin but love sinners. They are compassionate but will not water down their beliefs to please the media. They are by far the most generous with their time and money. For those of you who have determined you don't believe in God just know that He still believes in you.

God is united to himself in a union of unity. God is indivisiable - there are no parts (attributes).

You said:
"As long as there is a single attribute God is plenty falsifiable". There is not a single attribute; so I guess by your own admission you are now a believer.

Either Jesus was a liar a lunatic or He was truly God. If what He said is true, then we are not fighting against only politicians but demons as well. The Bible says that the god of this world is Satan.
So, if what Jesus said was true, then He is truly God and we need to take into account everything that He said.
If your perspective is that there is no god or that you are god or that everything is god, then you are right. There is no place for politics and religion. But if you are wrong, then there is no place for politics in religion but there is definitly a place for religion in politics.
Google "soccer lighting strike kills whole team" and you will see what the BBC says about how a whole team scattered on a soccer field was killed while the opposing team scattered on the same field was unphased. The BBC says that it was witchcraft and that it happens all the time in that area.
If God did create the earth and all that is, then it's time to get to know Him.

You are incorrect, christians do not hate homosexuals. We cover them with God's love and pray that they will be saved. We are tired of this "choice" being shoved down our throats. If it was ok gays wouldn't have to fight so hard to make it acceptable, in order to ease their conscience, because they know they are doing wrong.
You talk about abortion and about poor little you and what about me, me, me! Well it is tragic and awful if a woman is raped, but it is not the babies fault for what happened. If you don't want it then give it to a family who would love and raise the child, there are so many couples who want children. You want to abort a baby because it may be a child with special needs. How dare you! you selfish pig!! who are you to judge the value of a persons life. Abortion is a matter of convenience and that is all that it is. Suicide is a choice but that isn't leagal, wearing a seatbelt is a choice, but that is against the law as well. How much more should it be illegal for a living baby be killed, because you think it is your choice. You are arrested if you kill a child after it is born, what is the difference? isn't it the mothers choice? after all isn't it just a post abortion? That is why there are so many school shootings and murders because there is no value on life anymore. People are more concerned with wearing fur and the protection of whales than our own human race.

(discussing Dakota Fanning's new movie "Hounddog", which contains a scene of her being raped. In case you don't know, she was 12 years old when it was filmed.)

This is the left's way of making pedophelia seem "normal". They did the same thing with homosexuality and look at it now. It's accepted as normal and anyone who disagrees is labeled a biggot. Mark my word, Hollywood will be making more and more movies like this and each one will make it seem completely normal for adults to have sex with children. My own state of VA elected author Jim Webb, who writes explicit sex scenes between children and adults in his books, to the senate. And Webb actually defends these disgusting scenes! We are daily becoming more and more like Sodom and Gomorrah in this country. It saddens me that this country I love has CHOSEN to fall so far from God.

All honesty I wouldn't even care if creationism was taught in public schools, I just have a problem with the idea that it should be taught in science classes. It's not science, it'll never be science, the basis of it's claim totally goes against the rules of science. They could form a religious history class for it or something, /shrug.

When you can prove the science you're teaching, then say that. The fact is, you can't prove that either. Intelligent design is saying that matter + energy + information (not chance chemisty) = creation.

And since chance chemistry has been proven virtually impossible, I don't understand how you can insist on anything.
